Applicants must: be accepted to ICC, have a high school diploma or equivalent, 18 or higher ACT score, and "C" or higher in A&P I, A&P II, and Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra

Respiratory Care Technology-Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Care Technology Program offers a basic two-year associate degree program of study. Students are trained to perform clinical tasks included in the Respiratory Therapist€™s job description and in many instances fill staff and supervisory positions in the hospital environment. Students are also trained to perform clinical tasks included in the advanced practitioner job description. Students will follow a 2-year course study designed to integrate the study of basic sciences, respiratory care and applied clinical technique as well as advanced respiratory care courses which include specialized clinical rotations. Upon completion of the program, graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science degree. After graduation the student will be eligible to take the certification examination administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). After passing this exam, students are then eligible to take the written and clinical simulation registry examinations also administered by the NBRC.

May 1st application deadline. Applicants must complete an application to NEMCC and a separate application to the Respiratory Care Program. Applicants must: (1) submit a high school diploma transcript or GED transcript, (2) have a 17 on the enhanced ACT or a minimum of 12 semester hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA, (3) complete the following perquisites: Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra, (4) submit transcripts from all undergraduate institutions, (5) schedule an interview with the program director and clinical director of respiratory care, and (6) must not have any “disqualifying events” from Criminal Background Check.

Applicants must: (1) submit a high school diploma transcript or GED transcript, (2) have a 17 on the enhanced ACT or a minimum of 12 semester hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA, (3) complete the following perquisites: Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra, (4) submit transcripts from all undergraduate institutions, (5) schedule an interview with the program director and clinical director of respiratory care, and (6) must not have any “disqualifying events” from Criminal Background Check.

Respiratory Care Technology-Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapy program, at the DeSoto Center, is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. The Associate of Applied Science degree curriculum will prepare the graduate to assume the duties of an advanced level Respiratory Therapist. Upon successful completion of the program the graduate will be registry eligible, enabling him/her to take the national credentialing exams.

Applicants must: (1) have an ACT composite score of 18 or higher, (2) complete the prerequisite courses- Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a "C" or better before entering the program, (3) observe a Respiratory Therapy department and the day to day activities of a therapist, and (4) submit a typed one page paper explaining your desire to be a Respiratory Therapist and what qualities would make you a good candidate for this program.
