TRAINING CENTER PROGRAMS
The Medical Office Technology Program is designed to prepare students to work in medical office positions in doctors offices, health clinics, and other related organizations. The program of study familiarizes the student with ICD and CPT Codes. The student will understand the importance of accurate, complete, and consistent coding practices for the production of quality healthcare data.

CPT Coding This course is an introduction to the field of outpatient procedural coding and requirements for insurance reimbursement. Medical Insurance Billing This course is a culmination of skills and knowledge of appropriate procedures for generating, processing, and submitting health insurance claims to private and governmental health insurance programs. Electronic Health Records This course covers electronic health records (EHR) in the healthcare environment as they pertain to various healthcare settings.

Student enrolling in any Business and Office Technology degree program must present proof of a minimum ACT score of 14 in English, 14 in Math, and 14 in Reading or ACCUPLACER scores of 21 in Pre-Algebra, 39 in Writing, and 64 in Reading for program entrance. This program is designed as a continuation of the secondary Business and Technology curriculum. Any student who did not satisfactorily complete one of these programs or who does not demonstrate and/or document mastery of identified competencies will be enrolled in one or more additional basic skills courses. Studentss enrolling in BOT 1113 Document Formatting & Production, students will be required to key straight-copy material at a minimum of 35 GWPM on a 5-minute timed writing, with a maximum of 1 error per minute. Students who do not demonstrate this level of proficiency will be required to enroll in BOT 1013 - Introduction to Keyboarding. *BOT 1313 & Natural Science with lab may be substituted. **Transcription Electives: BOT 1513, BOT 2523, BOT 2533
