Civil engineers design and supervise large and complex construction projects, including roads, buildings, industrial complexes, airports, tunnels, and systems for delivery of water, wastewater and energy.

On average, civil engineers may make about $80,000 per year, but experienced engineers can make $90,000 or more. As a job candidate, you will be required to have a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Many companies also require engineers to obtain a professional engineering license through organizations like the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Civil Engineering programs are offered at 3 Mississippi 4-year universities - Mississippi State University, Jackson State University, and University of Mississippi.
